Cable tray model annotation

Cable tray models can be annotated with labels, flow arrows, and patterns in CAD and BIM software to improve documentation and design clarity.

Annotation in AutoCAD MEP

In AutoCAD MEP, you can annotate cable trays as you draw them by adding labels, flow arrows, and hatch patterns. To do this:

• Go to the Electrical workspace, then click Manage tab → Preferences panel → Cable Tray.
• Under Cable Tray Pattern, select a line pattern type and specify the spacing for vertical or 45-degree lines.
• Under Labels and Flow Arrows, choose a style and layout method, allowing you to define labels only, flow arrows only, or both.
• A preview image helps visualize your selections before applying them .

Annotation in Revit MEP

In Revit MEP, cable tray annotation can be applied automatically during placement:

• Click Systems tab → Electrical panel → Cable Tray.
• Use the Type Selector to choose the cable tray type, with or without fittings.
• On the Options Bar, specify width, height, offset, or bend radius.
• Ensure Tag on Placement is selected to automatically tag the cable tray with the chosen annotation style .

Manual and Automatic Labeling

You can also manually add labels to cable trays, wires, and conduits in both AutoCAD and Revit. Additionally, layout preferences can be configured to automatically add labels as you draw, streamlining the documentation process .

• CAD formats include DWG, DXF, STEP, STL, IGES, and software-specific files for SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, CATIA, Revit, and more .
