Steps to Enable Internet Access

  1. Select the Appropriate Splitter

  2. Install the Splitter

    • Outdoor installation: Use ruggedized enclosures (IP65/IP66) in cabinets, utility poles, or optical distribution boxes .
    • Ensure the input fiber from the service provider or OLT (Optical Line Terminal) is connected to the splitter's input port.
  3. Connect Output Fibers to Endpoints
    • Run individual fiber lines from each output port of the splitter to the ONTs (Optical Network Terminals) or routers at each endpoint .
    • Each ONT converts the optical signal into Ethernet for internet access on devices.
  4. Verify Signal Quality
    • Use an optical power meter to check signal strength at each output port. Ensure the signal is within the acceptable range to maintain reliable internet performance .
    • Minimize the number of splitter stages to reduce optical loss; typically, no more than two stages are used in cascaded setups .
  5. Activate Internet Services
    • Once connected, configure each ONT or router according to your ISP's instructions. The splitter itself does not require power or configuration, as it passively distributes the signal .
